Day 7

September 3, 1998: Ridgecrest, CA - Las Vegas, NV: 338.6 miles

As far as I remember, that was the first time I ever was below sea level, 190 feet (58 m) to be exact. That's the lowest elevation in Death Valley National Park, where I passed through on this day on my way from California to Las Vegas. It was hot, dry and dusty down there, but there are some beautiful spots so it's worth a visit despite everything.

In the evening, I arrived in Las Vegas and guess what: it rained. I was told it practically never rains in Las Vegas at this time of year, but it did. It wasn't cold or anything, just rainy. Funny, isn't it? The rain spoiled my intention to go ride on the New York, New York casino's roller coaster, but I did visit the Star Trek Experience at the Las Vegas Hilton, which was quite a neat thing for somebofy who likes Star Trek. And rather well made, I though.
